Thermal spa and wellness in Andorra
Escaldes-Engordany owes its name to its hot springs, used for centuries. Thermal leisure circuits, cures of three to seven days, hotel spas and recovery protocols after exertion or after surgery. This is the part of our travel offer closest to our health division, and often the natural complement to a recovery stay.

Thermal leisure circuits
Indoor and outdoor pools, saunas, hammams and water trails fed by the hot springs of Escaldes-Engordany. Half-day or full-day access.

Cures of three to seven days
A daily programme built around water treatments, massage and rest, with suitable accommodation and a gradual rhythm.

Hotel spas
For those who prefer the quiet of a private establishment: spas in 4 and 5-star hotels, bespoke treatments, no crowds.
Andorran thermal waters, between leisure and recovery
Escaldes-Engordany takes its name from the Catalan escaldar, to scald: the hot springs surface naturally here and shaped life in the parish long before anyone spoke of tourism. Today the offer splits between the large thermal leisure complexes, open and lively, and hotel spas, which are more discreet.
Choosing between the two
The right choice depends on what you have come for:
- Thermal leisure circuits suit families and short stays, with an openly playful dimension
- Adults-only areas within the same complexes offer quiet without changing address
- Hotel spas suit recovery stays, couples and anyone wanting to avoid crowds
- Multi-day cures structure the week around a daily rhythm rather than a single session
Thermal waters and recovery
Warm water, moderate altitude and quiet form an environment that supports recovery, which is why we often pair the thermal offer with our supervised recovery programmes. One important caveat: after surgery, access to the baths depends on your surgeon's agreement and on complete wound healing. We never schedule water treatments without that clearance.
After skiing or hiking
The most requested combination is also the simplest: a day of skiing or hiking, then late afternoon at the baths. We build it into every active-stay quote, with slots booked ahead to avoid queuing in high season.
When to come
Thermal waters are the only one of our activities with no real season. In practice the most pleasant periods are those when the country is quietest: May, June, October and November, with noticeably lower accommodation rates.
Ce qu'on nous demande le plus souvent
Can I use the baths after an operation?
Only with your surgeon's agreement and after complete wound healing. We never schedule water treatments without that clearance, and we shift the programme if needed.
Do I need to book ahead?
In high season, yes, particularly for late-afternoon slots and adults-only areas. We book them as standard within a package.
Are the thermal baths suitable for children?
Family circuits are open to them, with dedicated zones. Adults-only areas and most cures are restricted to over-16s or over-18s depending on the establishment.
What is the difference between a thermal complex and a hotel spa?
A thermal complex is large, open, lively and family-oriented. A hotel spa is discreet, quiet and generally better suited to a recovery stay.
How many days for a cure?
Three days is enough to feel an effect, seven days for a structured cure. Beyond that the marginal benefit drops noticeably.
Can I combine it with skiing?
It is the most requested combination. We build it into the quote with slots booked ahead.
