The Principality of Andorra is a 468 km² microstate in the Pyrenees, between France and Spain. It belongs neither to the European Union nor to the Schengen Area, yet it uses the euro and can only be reached by road, through the French Ariège or Spanish Catalonia. Allow around two and a half hours from Toulouse-Blagnac and three hours from Barcelona-El Prat.
The country rises from 840 metres at the Riu Runer to 2,942 metres at Coma Pedrosa. That range explains most of what it offers: three ski resorts in winter, a dense network of trails, lakes and mountain refuges in summer, and a dry, sunny high-altitude climate that supports recovery after surgery.

Taxation and shopping
Andorra's IGI, the local equivalent of VAT, is set at 4.5% — the lowest rate in Europe. That is what makes shopping in Andorra an activity in its own right. Customs allowances apply on return to France or Spain.
Healthcare in Andorra
We do not offer major surgery. Our work covers supervised recovery, longevity assessments, aesthetic medicine and sports recovery, with licensed facilities we audit ourselves.
For visitors from the Gulf
Andorra is reached through France or Spain, so a multiple-entry Schengen visa is required for most Gulf nationals. We prepare that file in advance. Our summer offer covers stays of two to four weeks with a villa or suite, driver, household staff, children's activities and optional health assessments.

What people ask us most
Do I need a visa to visit Andorra?
Andorra is not in the Schengen Area and has no border control of its own, but it can only be reached through France or Spain. If you need a Schengen visa to enter either country — which applies to most Gulf nationals — you need one, and it must be multiple-entry so you can leave again. We prepare that file in advance.
How do I get to Andorra?
There is no airport in Andorra. From France, allow around two and a half hours from Toulouse-Blagnac via the N20. From Spain, around three hours from Barcelona-El Prat. We arrange transfers either way, by shuttle or private driver.
When is the best time to come?
December to March for skiing, June to September for hiking and high-altitude lakes. May, October and November are the quietest and least expensive months, which is what we recommend for a recovery stay or a health assessment.
Do you work with clients from the Gulf?
Yes, mainly on extended summer family stays: villa or suite, driver, household staff, children's activities and optional health assessments. We work in English, French, Spanish and Catalan, and we prepare the Schengen visa file in advance.
Will my treatment be reimbursed?
Andorra is outside the European Union, so the European Health Insurance Card does not apply and the S2 form does not work as it would in a member state. Partial cover is sometimes possible through private insurance. We advise, but we never promise reimbursement.
What is a supervised recovery stay?
You are operated on in your own country, then recover in Andorra: accommodation chosen for accessibility and quiet, physiotherapy on site, medical follow-up, and a return organised once your surgeon agrees. It is a recovery stay, not surgical care.
Is shopping in Andorra really cheaper?
On electronics, perfume, spirits and sports equipment, yes: IGI is 4.5% against 20% VAT in France. On everyday food and clothing the gap is small. Customs allowances apply on the way back.
How long does residency take?
Around fourteen weeks if you prepare the file yourself, roughly eight weeks with a file prepared correctly from the outset. Legal advice is delivered by our licensed Andorran partner firm.
