How to get to Andorra
There is no airport in Andorra. The country is reached only by road, from France via the N20 and the Pas de la Casa, or from Spain via the C-16 and Sant Julià de Lòria. Toulouse-Blagnac and Barcelona-El Prat are the two gateways, around two and a half and three hours away. Here are the real routes and what they involve.
From Toulouse
The shortest access from France: Toulouse-Blagnac then the N20 through the Ariège and the Pas de la Casa. Around two and a half hours.
From Barcelona
Barcelona-El Prat then the C-16 through the Cerdanya and Sant Julià de Lòria. Around three hours, with far more long-haul flight options.
From the Gulf
Fly to Barcelona, then transfer. A Schengen visa is required for most Gulf nationals, and it must be multiple-entry.

The routes, hour by hour
The absence of an airport is the country's main constraint, and it shapes the whole organisation of a stay. It also has one happy consequence: Andorra has never experienced mass air-borne tourism, which partly explains its relative quiet outside the season.
Through France: Toulouse and the N20
From Toulouse-Blagnac the road descends into the Ariège via the A66 and then the N20, passing Foix, Tarascon and Ax-les-Thermes before crossing the border at the Pas de la Casa, at 2,050 metres. In winter the Envalira tunnel avoids the pass of the same name, which can close in heavy snowfall. Allow two and a half hours in normal conditions, more on Saturdays during school holidays.
Through Spain: Barcelona and the C-16
From Barcelona-El Prat the C-16 climbs via Manresa, Berga and the Cadí tunnel, then La Seu d'Urgell before entering at Sant Julià de Lòria. Allow around three hours. This route is less exposed to winter disruption than the Pas de la Casa, and Barcelona offers far more long-haul connections — it is the one we favour for patients and visitors coming from further afield.

The visa question
Andorra has no border control of its own and issues no visas, but it can only be reached by crossing France or Spain. In practice: if you need a Schengen visa to enter either country, you need one, and it must allow you to leave again — so multiple-entry if your itinerary crosses the border more than once. This is the point Gulf visitors most often discover too late, and we prepare that file in advance.
Driving in Andorra
Winter equipment is mandatory in season, speed limits are enforced and checks are frequent. Parking in central Andorra la Vella is the main friction point in high season. If your stay is limited to the capital and the ski resorts, our shuttles remove the problem.
